Wrapping up 2019
On December 10th, we wrapped up 2019 with Falafel Wraps and a mini Christmas Market at the Gold of Syria event in The Lighthouse. These four amazing businesses came together to promote their products and services as well as to support the social cause.
First of its kind in Woking producing homemade candles with selections of unique and long lasting scents. My favourites are raspberry ripple and frankincense and myrrh.
A new Social Enterprise which makes and crafts recycled wood products into tea light holders, Christmas tree shelf, chess board, business card holders, plates, furnitures, just to name a few. Wow! Is there anything they can't make?
Zero waste products that offers an interesting and wide variety of plastic free goods and refills.
Consultancy company providing coaching services which has also just published their first book and a percentage of sale from every book helps to support a child's education in Northern Uganda.
Personally, I was taken ill prior to the event but I prayed for strength and God's will be done and remembered this verse which gave me much hope during my challenging corporate days.
2 Corinthians 12:9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness".
And indeed He revealed His power.
Volunteers worked together to run the event. The atmosphere was positive, uplifting and lively with visible characteristics of diversity, inclusiveness, teamwork, cooperation, trustworthy, responsibility, generosity and kindness displayed throughout despite language barriers and cultural differences. We sold more than the previous event during the lunch hour, received donations though the Giving page and met many new faces. There were still bumps along the way but that's alright because it's not perfection we are after. What matters was in spite of shortfalls, the focus wasn't lost, the process of getting the job done was executed calmly and thoughtfully and the main goal was delivered. In addition, three people whom I worked with on that day used to work in the company of my last job. We just existed in the same space within the same company but at different times but were brought together for the common purpose for that event. What a remarkable day and all glory can only be to God!
